The rigidity of the pergola is derived from the stability of the connection to the Earth. The importance of big, solid footings which are placed accurately, cannot be overstated.
The rigidity of the pergola is derived from the stability of the connection to the Earth.
Concrete footings: 14" Diameter minimum for 10" square and 12" round columns.
Our site plan will show a diagonal dimension. This helps you square the footings to each other.
Concrete pad: Should be poured 12" deep in the area where the columns will stand.
Stone wall: It's best to drill 18" deep into the well built, mortared stone wall.
Concrete pier: Wet set our 5/8" stainless steel rods into the footing then build the pier
Tolerance factor: Footings should be placed accurately with an overall error margin of less than an inch.
Conduit in footings: Bring a sweep into your footing with the center about three inches off center.
Deck mounted: Ask us for PDF drawings of best practice connection methods.
It is the customers responsibility to make sure that an adequate mounting surface is in place. The customer is responsible for
supplying relevant dimensions such as the depth and width of column centers and overall height requirements for the structure.
All dimensions, including overhangs and member spacing are completely customizable during the design process. At the time of installation, nothing can be changed.

Gather Your Measurements
Measurements are taken from column centers, our typical overhang is 24 inches
A freestanding pergola that measures 120" x 120" on center will have an overall size of 168" x 168"
An attached pergola that measures 120" x 120" on center will have an overall size of 144" deep x 168" wide
All dimensions, including overhangs and member spacing are completely customizable

Testimonials
I want to thank you folks, again, for doing such a nice job on the pergola. It really adds to the deck, and I'm sure that we'll really enjoy it in the spring and summer. I'll probably be in touch, some time in the future, regarding retractable canopy shades.

Max,
The pergolas arrived right on time and with all needed material. I have two of the units installed and one to go.
I can see that a lot of thought went into the design and production. The units are going up with only modest adjustments to fit some job site pecularities. Excellent workman ship. I am very very happy with the product.

The pergola is spectacular, and my clients are absolutely thrilled. Just as planned, it totally transforms the patio area into an inviting, dramatic, and complete outdoor space. They are very impressed with the precision of the construction as well.
Thank you again!

To Max and all the folks at Baldwin Pergolas who contributed to the creation and installation of our beautiful pergola - Thank you, thank you, thank you! Not only did you get the job done right on schedule and in time for our wedding, but the craftsmanship is impeccable. You are all very talented and deserving of great success.

We couldn't be happier. My wisteria is going up the columns, and its just stunning. We removed the trees and its just stunning. Thank you so much for all your time and hard work. Sincerely,
Lyra V.
My installer did a wonderful job, and so did you with both your meeting my design requests and the fiberglass product. We have had several inquiries already from our neighbors. I hope to send pictures this weekend. Thank you again! It came out exactly as I envisioned it and architecturally finishes and complements the house!
Sincerely,
Charlotte
Hi Chris,
We love the pergola and all our neighbors think it is great. The Baims next door are seriously considering doing one next year. Thanks so much for all your help.

Hello Matt, This could not have been easier, and it looks absolutely beautiful!
took us just shy of 6 hours to put it up, and my wife is already priming the mahogany caps.
wish i had another one to put somewhere!
thanks again
Michael
Max, it does look spectacular in the evenings. One of these days, I'll try for a night photo that shows it off.
